Hilton Head Vacations offer beautiful beaches, bike paths and of course lots of golf courses. It is located in South Carolina and is about 280 miles from Atlanta.
Pack a portable beach chair and bring your favorite book or in our case a Kindle Paperwhite which unlike other electronic readers - can be read outdoors.
Relax and enjoy the sound of the waves and the warm sun. We like staying walking distance to the beach - which for this trip meant a stay at the Marriot Barony Beach Club.
A short walk to the beach using our Wonder Wheeler meant we could get all of our beach gear to the beach in one trip.
However, a walk on the beach can lead to some fun island nature discoveries.
Starfish came to the shallow waters after an evening storm.
Pods of dolphins "followed" us on our daily walk on the beach making the hike even more special.
This is one place where it pays to rent your bikes - it is so inexpensive that bringing your own bikes is not worth the hassle. Renting for the week is the way to go even if you don't plan on biking every day. We found a coupon in one of the promotional magazines in our condo and used it.
We would often ride one way on the beach and then take the bike paths on shady tree lined paths back home.
Our last Hilton Head vacation was in the middle of November. We did have a few days of shorts weather - in the 70's - but we also had several cold and windy days.
However, we came prepared with an easy to use pop-up beach tent. The tent was placed facing the sun and the 3 sides protected us from all of the wind.
We stayed surprising warm and cozy and were the envy of all the other beach vacationers. Found it on Amazon for under $90 and it made it possible to enjoy the beach. Practice setting it up first at home or in your beach condo - but once you get it - it literally goes up in seconds.
Ride your bikes to several fun shopping districts like Coligny Plaza. When a rainy, cold day spoiled our day at the beach we headed to the Tanger Outlet stores for some serious shopping.
Golf courses in Hilton Head are plentiful. Named by Golf Digest readers as number 10 on its list of the world's best golf resorts, the island is a popular place for golf lovers. Both public and private golf courses provide a variety of golf experiences with wonderful views of the ocean or beautiful, tropical landscaping.
PGA Tours are often hosted here thanks to courses that have been designed by well known golf architects including Robert Trent Jones Sr., Pete Dye and Jack Nicklaus.
As you can tell there is something for everyone - whether you enjoy a leisurely day sitting at the beach or an island adventure of biking - this family beach vacation spot is sure to please.
